History of Pookie's Little Britches

The story of Pookies Little Britches begins in the early 60's with our grandmother, Tee Osgood. My brother and I knew her as "Nan". When we were very young, Nan lived with our grandfather, Clifford Osgood, in a pleasant farmhouse just outside of Lawrenceville, PA. This was a magical place to visit as kids. Nan was always writing enchanting children's stories, which we would beg to have read to us over and over. She was also a trained artists, poet and songwriter. In fact, in the 1950's she had several songs recorded on 78 rpm records.

When we were both very young, Nan gave us nicknames. I became Pookie, and my brother, Dale, became Little Britches. While my brother shed the nickname as he got older, my grandparents always called me Pookie.

Both Nan and our grandfather died not too long ago. Shortly thereafter, I began to plan to open a clothing store for kids. Try as I might, I could not come up with a name that had that certain ring to it.

One evening while throwing some names around with my daughters, it was decided we put the two nicknames together and call my new shop Pookie's Little Britches. It was named in honor of these two very special people who were very special to us, and we know they would love it.
